Microsoft Money 2000 Standard CD lost - Computer crashed - How to recover money file? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I've been using Microsoft Money years and years. I stoped buying the new versions at Money 2000. But I still use it every day. So my current file has years of my personal finance life.

Last month my PC crashed, and I've to install all applications again. I think I've the Money CD somewhere, but I just can't find it!

Because I've a backup o the PC I've the money file, and the money backup file.

I've installed last version, Sunset, but it can't convert my maoney file nor the backup file. I got the error: 304254 - You receive "Money cannot open this file because it was created by an incompatible version" when you try to open Microsoft Money.

First, I just now that it was Money 2000 Standard because I think I remember the CD cover. I really don't know which international version it was. I'm buyed in Portugal but it was in english...

The problem is I can't recover the information. The 304254 article just help if you have the old version...

Does anyone know where I can get the old version to be able to recover my money file, or a way to recover it without the old version installed?

  • I have an unused Money 2000 CD (Canadian Edition). Hopefully you have not updated your windows version because I doubt it is compatible with the latest versions. I could put it out on Ebay so you can get it securely. United States?

  • Hi Marilyn,

    Thank you.

But I think that the Canadian version will not work. According to the documentation it should be the same localized version... But we could try.

I'm from Portugal. There isn't a portuguese version, but I think I was using na european version or UK version.

The OS version is not an issue, because it has worked until Windows 7, and if not work on Windows 8 I'll use a VM with XP.

Could you make it available for me? You are not thinking charge me for that, are you?

Can you find a better way to send it, like dropbox or SkyDrive?

    Regards,

    Pedro
