Compaq NX7010 Notebook Blank screen - after automatic update RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have just installed Vista Business - (Official release) on my Compaq NX7010 with ATI 9200 Graphics onboard.

I have noted a few posts stating that the blank screen problem happened during installation of RC1 due to a problem with the ATI driver. However my installation of Official release went through without a hitch. Then some automatic updates were applied, the machine re-started, then I had a blank screen on the notebook. If I connect an external monitor that works OK, I checked for the applied updates, and there was an ATI graphics update applied.

To fix the problem I needed to roll back to the XP driver from the HP site and that has worked OK.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a proper fix appart from the XP driver ?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

    Try this:

    1) Install Windows xp pro

    2) Download and install nx7010 drivers from hp.com

    3) Start windows xp pro with installed drivers

    4) Run Vista setup and select "upgrade"

Set MOBILITY RADEON resolution to 1280x800
