Update software without admin right

  • hello,

Currently our computers have user with admin right.

We want remove admin right but it's not possible for update our work software.

I would know if it's possible to allow a specific software to install with admin right on user right.

This software change regedit / program files and programdata.

I have think to allow user to modify the software folder in program files and programdata but the software need to update registry and it's not possible to allow right on a part of regedit.

Do you have a solution for update specific software without admin right ?

We manage computer with GPO. The computer is in Windows 7/8/8.1 We have active directory in 2008R2 and we have 1 AD in 2012R2

  • Hello,

As Burak Uğur mentioned, the best option is to deploy SCCM. If you cannot do this, you can use gpo policies to deploy applications and application updates. It includes exe, msi, msp etc. files that can be installed silently. However, many things depend on application's behavior so if you have any particular application that needs to be installed by non-admin user, contact application's vendor. Perhaps, they will have the solution for it.
