rdp to a vista pc with a local account RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • We have very long computer names in our organization.  Up until very recently when we where RDP’ing into a remote pc with a local account name we could just put .\administrator for example and it would change the domain from our domain to the name of that remote computer.

So instead of typing longlocalcomputername\administrator we just typed .\administrator.  There must have been a update recently because myself and the other people on our team now must type the computer name \administrator as .\ puts in OUR computer name.

Has anyone else had this issue and do you know a fix?

  • Hi,

Why not saving the RDP file and only enter the User name each time connecting to the remote computer?
