DFS replica issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • 1 server does not work ,(3 servers,2 are 2003, 1 is 2008 , only 1 does not get replicated) and I have checked details using Ultrasound, after health check, it has lot of erros, the most important message is saying that staging area is full, our files is about 75G, 10000 files plus, I set up 3 server to 88GB in regedit.

Warning message 2: files have been backlogged for more than 7 days. Look for red health at either the upstream or downstream members. If none of those members are red, re-examine the schedule and network bandwidth on this connection to ensure that enough replication time is scheduled to allow the data to replicate. I went to DFS management concole, and can not set up replicate time. The help file is below:

    Backlogged Files

Ultrasound has detected that files have not replicated to other partners. This problem could be caused by the following factors:

    • The replication schedule is too short to allow all data to replicate to other members.
    • Network bandwidth is affecting the speed at which files replicate, causing a delay.
    • A downstream partner is unavailable due to network problems or other issues.

This alert might also be triggered when a D2 is performed on a downstream partner.

Anyone can give some tips? Thanks,

  • Hi,

For staging folder size, I assume you tried the steps in this article:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/264822

Please open the DFS Management console, go to the replication group, on Memberships tab over right, double click on one of the target folder and change the Staging folder size in Staging tab. check each target folder.

For Schedule, I cannot confirm the exact meaning of "cannot setup replication time". Please right click on the replication group, choose Properties, change the Schedule in Edit Schedule button. If available, set to Full with no limitation to see if repication can be done as a test.
