Lync 2013 MP can monitor Lync 2010 Servers? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can the new Lync 2013 MP monitor Lync 2010 Servers? Does the discoveries in this MP discover Lync 2010 Server roles? There is some mentions in the documentation for Lync 2010 Servers but is it just for synthetic transactions?

  • We have Lync 2010.  In my lab, the Lync 2010 discovery worked like a champ.  In production it failed miserably.  I found a post on SystemCenterCentral that outlined the failure and how to work around it (use a management server as the discovery server, create a run as, etc).  You may have to do something like this if the Lync team hasn't fixed their mp yet.

  • For Lync 2010 Server, I think you may need to try the Lync Server 2010 MP:

    Lync Server 2010 Management Pack

  • So I still do not get it. That document show how to configure both MP:s to work together. So I still need Lync 2010 MP to monitor my Lync 2010 servers, but I need to disable the central discovery rule and then Lync 2013 MP discovery will discover my servers? Very confusing... I have over 50 Lync servers because we are managing multitenant environment so updating registry keys can be problematic... In my test environment Lync 2013 MP did not discovered my Lync 2010 server that I have there.
