DPM 2007 - ERROR: (ID 104 Details: Internal error code: 0x80990A58) - its not creating recovery points or completing consistency checks RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello there,

    We are using DPM 2007 and have suddenly started to have the error below on one of our protected servers:

    ERROR: (ID 104 Details: Internal error code: 0x80990A58)

    We have all the latest patches and rollup fixes installed from months ago, including hot fix Hotfix Package (KB970868.

    It will not even sync or create any complete any consistency checks....

    Please can anyone help??  Many many thanks in advance :)

    Hi,

    POSSIBLE CAUSES
    ==============

    This can occur for the follow reasons:

    1) The dpmra service crashes on either the DPM server or the protected server
            Look for evidence of dpmra.exe crashes.
    2) Communications link is broken for more than 60 seconds between DPM server and protected server.
    3) Disk subsystem is over taxed on the protected server and cannot transfer 64MB data in 60 seconds.
            2 and 3 - Check network and disk I/O on protected sever.
    4) The VSS snapshot on the protected server goes away unexpectedly.
            Check the application and system event log on the protected server and see if we’re having VSS / Volsnap problems causing the shadow copy to disappear.
