    I have a word document with several Excel objects embedded. When I open the Word document it also opens the spreadsheets in hidden mode. Is there a reason why this happens and can I get it to stop?

    Hi,

    First, check to see whether the steps to embedded the Excel files are correct. Please refer to the following link:

    Also, does this issue occurs in only one file or all the files?

    Try to create a new file to check the issue.

    If the issue still occurs, then try to start Word in safe mode to check the issue.

    It turns out that the objects were not causing the problem. It is text that I am pasting into the word document from excel as a link that is causing the problem.  e.g. I copy a cell from excel - open word - choose Paste\paste special\ paste link\ unformatted text    (formatted text causes the same problem).  Any ideas?
