IE10 does not allow some ajax features of certain web pages RRS feed

  • Question

  • Let me use this Yahoo news article as an example.  IE10 on my Windows 8 machine shows the comments, but not the up or down votes for each comment.

    Let me also use this message board page as another example.  IE10 shows the votes for each message, but clicking the up or down button does not do anything.

    Is there something that I need to turn on to get these features?

    Any tip will be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi,

    to debug web pages,

    f12>Console tab, refresh the page to display any messages since the Developer tool was opened....

    it will show you what content was blocked by your IE10 Tracking protection...

    <dir>

    SEC7114: A download in this page was blocked by Tracking Protection.

    </dir>

    scorecardresearch.com is used by yahoo to tally user 'likes'

    but the real cause is this error...

    <dir>

    HTML1412: Malformed comment. Comments should start with "<!-- ".

    us-ready-strike-back-against-china-cyberattacks-225730552--finance.html, line 252 character 635

    </dir>

    as IE10 standards mode ignores IE conditional comments.... the yahoo site developers need to debug their pages.

    these errors below... cause the page to load really slowwwww.

    <dir>

    HTML1112: Codepage restart from _autodetect_all to windows-1252

    CopyImageHTML.htm

  • Per your tip, I got the following on the console page:

     HTML1201: yahoo.com is a website you've added to Compatibility View.

    I disabled the compatibility view, and everything started working fine.  In other words, the compatibility view is the culprit.
