SharePoint Online Modern Library - Content Type with Excel Template not showing

    Question

  • Hi all,

I'd like to add a content type with a blank Excel Template (.XLTX) to a document library.

My document library is using the modern look and feel.

So, I created a new content type named 'Excel' and added a blank Template.XLTX.

Next I added the new content type to a document library.

But, the content type isn't showing up behind the 'New Document' button in the document library.

When I switch to the 'classic look and feel' the new content type does show up behind the 'New Document' button.

This problem only occurs with Excel templates. Content Types with Word and PowerPoint template are showing up in the modern look and feel.

    Any suggestions?

    Kind Regards,

  • Hi all,

I solved this problem by adding a normal .XLSX instead of a .XLTX
