Unable to uninstall an agent, how to "detach" it? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a computer (Windows Server 2003 R2) shown in Unprotected computers with protection agent, in DPM 2010 Admin Console, as a test.

After the test, I wanted to remove it by using Uninstall but it failed.  So I uninstalled the agent manually from inside the computer.  However, in DPM Admin Console, the computer's name is always there under Unprotected compters.....

I've tried disable protection agent but this doesn't help.  And of course I can't uninstall again as the agent was already manually uninstalled.

    How to "detach" it now?

  • Another monologue of mine...

    OK, I've found the procedure:

    1. Make sure the "unprotected computer" is switched on.

    2. In DPM Admin Console, make sure the protection agent is enabled.  If it's not, enable it.  (Sometimes it needs to close and reopen the admin console -- seems like a bug!)

    3. Do a "refresh information" and it should show "Error" for the agent.  There's also a link in "Details" pane to let us "remove the record of the computer from this DPM server".
