Error while users are trying to access excel model which is using power query and sql server combination RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Team,

I'm using Excel 2013 with power query (not using power BI desktop), got stuck at one place and need help.

     I'm

    1-Creating a model only in Excel 2013.

2-Connecting to SQL Server through power query add-in in 2013 version, at that time i'm providing user id and password to sql server  as security type is mixed mode in sql server.

3-importing data , doing some clean up then calculation.

4-Throwing that data on one excel sheet and use that in other charts and pivots.

I want to share that excel model to other users but want they should not be prompt for any user id and  password, any suggestions ?

    Regards

  • Hi Shashank. Currently the SQL credentials you entered only apply on your machine, for your login, and don't travel with the Excel file. If other folks only need to see the results you loaded to the Excel sheet, then you're good to go. But if they need to refresh the data, they will be prompted to provide the SQL credentials.
