Choosing the best Project management software RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I would like to manage projects with office 365 project management software. Can anyone guide me to choose the best software ?

    Requirements
    1. Need 4 Administrative licenses who can manage everything
    2. 6 user licenses who can see tasks, upload documents, put comments, mark the task as complete.

I thought of going with 4 licenses of Project Pro for Office 365 and 6 project lite. But I have seen that Project lite works only with project online .So I am confused.
And currently I am using Office 365 for small business.

    Thanks

    Athira

  • Hi Athira,

Please refer to the following licence model for Project Online.

MS Project Pro for Office 365 is just the rich client users will have on their desktop. You need to subscribe 4 Project Online with Project Pro for Office 365. Note that you cannot manage the solution administration only with Project Lite thus you need at least 1 Project Online licence, with or without Project Pro for O365.

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi Athira,

It is true that Project lite works only with project online. That’s why you have to buy the bundle [Project Online with Project Pro] for the 4 Administrative licenses. Then, your 6 user licenses will work with [Project Lite] and the price will be really cheap.

I’ll contact you on LinkedIn to give you an idea about the price and I remain at your disposal for any further enquiries.

  • Hi Athira,

Yes you need to subscribe office 365 Business to get Project Online. There are 2 options then:

    -          Business : the change small business -> business is free but you may have some problems of compatibility if some users haven’t office 2013

    -          Business Premium : costs 5€/user/month, but all is unified and compatible

Do not hesitate to contact us by mail or by phone via our website if you need our services to guide you through this evolution.

  • Hi Athira,

Indeed there is no Project Online trail. But your trail subscription for Project Pro is not lost because you can subscribe for Project Online only for one month to test.

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi Didier ,

I have started using Project proffessional and Proejct web app.

But there are so many doubts .

I have added resource name in project web app. But it is not mapped as assigned to in SharePoint task list. Why this is happening ? Any mapping is to be done by administrator

    Thanks
