Force Comments to be Required during Workflow Approval RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a way to force the approval comments to be required?  Currently when a workflow approval is generated, the approval window offers two radio buttons for Approved or Rejected, while the Comments below and optional.  Can this comment box be set to 'required'?

  • Hi there--

Is it related to out of the box Sample -proposal workflow of Project server 2010?

If yes, You may try with following steps:
    1. PWA> Site Action> View all site contents
    2. Click Project Server Workflow Tasks
    3. Go to List settings
    4. Click PSWApprovalTask under Content Type
    5. Click on Comments under Columns section
    6. Radio button to make it required under column settings
    7. Test to complete.

For any custom workflow if you have e.g DMDynamic Workflow , you will need to modify the custom activity to make the comments field as required field.

    Hope that helps.

  • Thank you Amit,

I followed your instructions but I still can not make the approval field required as shown in the Approve Reject box below.

Please note we are using Nintex workflows so I also went into the List Settings for Nintex Workflow Task and updated the value for ApproverComments to required.  Still the below Comment box is not required.  I think maybe we have confused Workflow Tasks with Workflow Approvals.
