  • most common problem if a restart under HEAVY use is HEAT related.
has the computer ever been cleaned.
if not probably needs to be.

you can always use a program to monitor the temp and fans.
speed fan is a good one to use.

  • I'll agree with Mikey on this one, it's very likely that there's an overheating issue.

A good idea would be to stress out individual parts of the pc. And see if anything goes wrong during these tests.

In particular the graphics card would be a good place to start considering you're having this problem only when playing games. A program we often use to check the stability of a graphics card is for example http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/ it will maximize the load of a graphics card, and also show the temperature of it.

It's a good idea to disable screen savers during this.

You can also use the following tool for example to maximize your CPU load, http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft/. An easy tool that requires no installation to monitor the CPU temperature next to the one listed above is http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html.

    Kind regards,

    Stephan Schwarz.

  • As I see that you updated the driver (a one that dates of 2010 now). Check if there is another update of it. If yes, install the latest one.

If no, contact ATI Technical Support.

  • k Thanks for all your supports =) your the BesT! =D But still can i just upgrade my video card will it solve my problem now ?
    Friday, April 29, 2011 3:18 PM
  • If there is a newer update, install it and you have to check again.

I have seen multiple BSODs like that which were caused by graphic card driver and the update solved the problem.

So, try that and if the problem is not solved, contact ATI Technical Support to report that :)

There may actually be a different reason behind his kernel power issue, I was experiencing it myself it turned out I had allowed 2 updates for newer PATA hard drive compatibility on my system (I only have SATA I and II drives) and they kept doing the same thing to me. After the third full install those are the only 2 updates I didn't allow on my system this time and its functioning flawlessly once again. When I was having the reboot/BSOD it was also reporting video freeze ups but it wasn't the video card or drivers.

  • Hello,

the driver was reported by Windbg which mention that the ATI driver is the cause of the problem. It is for that, I recommand to contact ATI Technical Support.

The user can also contact CSS for more information.

    Regards.

    Saturday, April 30, 2011 11:59 AM
  • ok I'm going to have you try something.

    go into control panel

find the uninstall a program and select it

in the left side of window click view installed updates

find these 2 updates listed below and uninstall them.

    KB2492386

    KB982018

Uninstalling these 2 updates (if they are installed) will not hurt anything and if your still experiencing the reboots after they have been removed you can always let windows update reinstall them for you.... If it does work do not let windows update reinstall them

I'd check with what Mr X says at this point not much we can do I believe. Although you might open your computer case and take a close look at your video card and make sure it isn't loaded full of dust specially in the fan area, you can also try turning on the PC while watching the video cards fan and see if it even still works... if not it be time for a new video card.

Well only being 14 shouldn't stop you from being able to see dust buildup but maybe you don't need that, Is the system relatively new?, if so it probably isn't a dust issue.

When you installed those ATI drivers did you uninstall the ones on the system before installing the new ones?

(also Mr X should not be the one to contact ATI or Microsofts customer support for you, that is the job of someone responsible in your home like a parent)

The reason being Mr X don't have your system in front of him so he could never answer all the questions they will ask.

You should be able to find the ATI software in control panel in UNINSTALL PROGRAMS completely uninstall it and reboot, reinstall after it comes back up.
