Opinions on the built-in dimming function RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I have to say the dimming function is a useful addition, works out of the box. It's similar to OS X's dimming after a period of inactivity, I believe Ubuntu also includes something similar. But the abrupt transition to the dimmed state (no mid-level-brightness transition at all) is a bit jarring. Anyone else feel the same way? I feel it'd be much better if it could be a 500ms transition time. Fade down should be possible, since during shutdown or something, it fades to black. Do developers here know why they decided to stick with this current method of dimming?
