DPM Agent Version: 4.0.1920.0 fails to install RRS feed

  • Question

  • Agent install fails on one Windows 2008 R2 server. Works correctly on all others.

    I would appreciate any ideas...

  • We finally got this correct after working with Microsoft.

WMI was corrupted on the server where we were trying to install the new agent.

  • Hi

Check that all the services are started, IE. Windows installer service..sometimes it times out...Also try running as an Administrator and disable your AV. Have a look at a similar thread here:

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the suggestion.

We tried disabling the AV and the Firewall but no success and always run as Administrator.

This machine as previously protected and if we try to upgrade the Agent from the DPM server Administrator Console it fails and we get the message:

Data Protection Manager Error ID: 295
DPM could not remove the Protection Agent Coordinator service from knighthawk.mpc.edu.
Use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall the DPM Agent Coordinator service on servername.

There is no listing in the Programs and no service by this name running.

  • I am also having error 295 on one of my servers.  I got it updating all the agents after upgrading from DPM 2012 to DPM 2012 SP1.  It is Server 2008 R2 SP1 as well.  I have not yet had a chance to reboot it and am planning on trying that tonight.
