Unable to set "LineURI". This parameter is restricted within Remote Tenant PowerShell. RRS feed

  • Good day,

    I'm not good with PowerShell, but I'm trying to assign a skype for a business phone line to a user, but I'm getting this error. Is there something that I am forgetting? 

     Set-CsUser sip:aanothertest@domain.com -EnterpriseVoiceEnabled $True -LineURI "tel:+16174215632;EXT=55632"

    Unable to set "LineURI." This parameter is restricted within Remote Tenant PowerShell.
        + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (:) [Set-CsUser], ManagementException

  • There are two things to be considered.

    1. Set-CsUser cannot be used to assign the LiineUri in Skype for Business Online

    2. You cannot assign the LineUri with this format - tel:+16174215632;EXT=55632 ; it should be proper telephone number to assign (DID).

    In order to assign the telephone to Skype for Business Online user you need to use the below command 

    Set-CsOnlineVoiceUser -Identity sip:aanothertest@domain.com -TelephoneNumber +155458778954

    Agree with Neeranjan, if you want to set the telephone number for SFB online, you should use Set-CsOnlineVoiceUser, you could refer to this article.

  • Thank you, guys!!!

    Like you guys say, it looks like it is not possible to change it well connected to Skype online. 

    I was able to change it on prime. after a couple of minutes, the change was replicated in skype online.
