IE 11 Page loading Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have Windows 8.1 running IE 11. I have regular issues on 3 Windows 8.1 devices with IE11 not being able to load pages. The Microsoft.com page doesn't even load at times. I get a "This page cant be displayed" error or the page loads but most content is displayed as text only. If I load the exact same page using Firefox it will load up right away. Is there a compatibility setting or something that I need to set? I really don't want to have to use Firefox as my default browser.

    IE Version 11.0.9600.16476

  • Hi,

Firstly, make sure your network connection is fine.

    Then try these suggestion:

    • Disabling Enhanced Protected Mode
    • Delete your browser history
    • Disable add-ons in Internet Explorer
    • Check Proxy and DNS Settings
    • Reset Internet Explorer
    • Check whether a third-party service, program, or anti-virus is conflicting with Internet Explorer
    • Updating older drivers and editing registry key TabProcGrowth
    • Restore or refresh your PC

The detailed information, we could refer to this tutorial:

  • Thank you Karen for your response. The article was helpful, but has not resolved my problem 100%. I still have difficulty getting IE to load pages that Firefox is able to load. I will continue to work on the issue but have begun to suspect that there are issues with wireless that are making the issue worse. I will mark this as Answered. Thanks again

  • I have this problem, too.
In fact I had to go to Chrome to open up this webpage to try and get some help.
This computer is a 2 week old Dell, with McAfee pre-installed on it.

Windows 8.1 also pre-installed and this is IE 11.
All Windows, Microsoft and Dell updates, are up to date.

How do you reset IE?  Hopefully you're not saying to reset my whole computer.
My add-ons are Flash and Java (both up to date).
My search provider is Google (because Bing is just too much in my face).

    (edited to add:)
Enhanced Protected Mode has been already unchecked.

I can get links and pages many times, but not always.  Then I copy and paste (into Chrome) the page I want to go to and it comes up fine.
I have tried clearing cache, cookies, clearing flash cache, disc cleanup and rebooting, with the same result.
And sometimes the link I click on will come up partially (for instance the first part of the website on a game) and then the loading bar just keeps reloading and reloading, never to have the whole website come up.
Again, I can copy and paste the link into Chrome (or Firefox, although I now hate that browser) and it will come up just fine, as it was intended.

    Thank you for any help.
