Skype for Business mobile client on android V 6.4.0.5 and "Not a valid number" message when calling less than 7 digits numbers

    Question

  • I updated my Skype for Business on my android to V 6.4.0.5, after this specific update, when I open the dial-pad of Skype For Business and call any internal extension (five digits) or calling emergency number (like 999), a new message appears to me “Not a valid number ”. The calls was working before very good, but after update the mobile client to this version (6.4.0.5), I can’t make any calls to numbers that are less than 7 digits. but if I put the extension or the emergency number in search field in Skype for business client, it normalized correctly and the call completed successfully.

So it seems that "Not a valid number" message appears only in calling from dial–pad.

All our internal extensions are five digits  and also all emergency numbers are three digits (911, 902 and 999 in Saudi Arabia).

So please, is this a bug in the new version? I hope that J

  • Ahmed, I've contacted MS and they confirmed me it indeed is a bug in the 6.4.0.5 version. An update should be rolling out this month, although they couldn't give me a specific date of release. The alternatives are dialing in E164 format or installing a previous apk.

  • Hi,

Did the issue happen for multiple Android 6.4.0.5 version clients or just happen for you?

Please try to uninstall it and them download again to test the issue.

If the issue happen with multiple Android users and just happen with 6.4.0.5, then it may the issue of this version. You can also contact Microsoft to confirm.

    Best Regards

  • Lync Supports only E164 phonenumbers, maybe the update could not get the normalization of your numbers. Check that the correct dialplan is for your user configured or try to dial the phonenumber inn e164 +9661234566666

  • Same problem here.

Sfb 6.4.0.4 on Android says "Not a valid number" when I try to call a 4 digit number.

SfB 6.3.1558.0 on WP10 completes the call for the same 4 digit number.

Same Sfb user account used on both test.

  •  Same here:

I updated my Skype for Business on my android to V 6.4.0.5, If I open the dial-pad of Skype For Business and call any internal extension seven or more digits with a leading * for us the message  “Not a valid number ” is visible on top. If I answer a call from the list with exactly that number it works just fine. Please help

  • Seems a bug with the 6.4.0.5 android client, my recommendation is not update and if you already did, downgrade with an .apk backup until MS release a new version for Android.
