Upgrade laptop with a new SSD

Question
-
Hi there,
I'm going to do a upgrade in my laptop....just add more memory and change the HD for a new SSD.
So this laptop is a Dell that was bough in 2012 with Windows 8. It was updated to windows 8.1 free...and now it was updated to windows 10 for free again.
What should I do after the install the new HD SSD in this laptop? I'll need to buy a new windows version? I don't have the serial number for my old windows 8....the serial number was in the package and the package doesn't exists anymore.
How do it?

If your Windows 10 is validated, just reinstall the same version on your new SSD without entering a product key.
When your laptop will be connected to the Internet, Windows will contact the Microsoft licensing system then restore your digital license ;-)Gerald

Hi Tarcisio,
In addition to perform a re-install, you may consider to take a system image backup, then create a bootable USB drive and choose to restore from backups:
The system should be then activated by itself when connected to the Internet, if not, you may need to activate with Phone activation.
So basically you need two things:
1. A bootable Windows 10 USB install drive;
2. Windows 10 system image backup;
The install drive you could just download from the page below:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
For the image backup, see:
