Role-Based Access in SharePoint. How can SharePoint be configured to use role-based access? RRS feed

  • Role-Based Access – We secure SharePoint on an individual user basis. If we wants to move towards a role-based type of model.  We need to know what are some available means of doing that in SharePoint.  How can SharePoint be configured to use role-based access?

  • You can use Active Directory and create Role and Rule groups, which you can use for controlling access to your SharePoint. Role will be simply a group membership in this case.

  • To be more precise, create a active directory group named ABC,

     From the Sitecollection , security page , Assign the required sharepoint roles (contributor, Edit, Admin) to this group ABC
