I tried re-catalog the MOSS backup, but it failed with the same exception.

SITE db is the biggest db on SQL server. It's approx 40Gb.

I saw two growing catalog files on SPS server in the Temp folder ("\\spsserver\c$\Program Files\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\DPM\Temp\SPCatalogDump\SP129312639731709376\") . But they were deleted at the end of the job.

There was no issue with DPM 2007. After upgrade to DPM 2010 I see this issue. All agent are updated and reconfigured.

I tried to reconfigure DPM agent on MOSS server several times, but it didn't help.

How to debug and fix that ? Any ideas ?

    Thanks.

  • Alternate,

digging deeper into the .errlogs and specifically getting a trace of this error while you repro it will be helpful, but I did see this hex error code,

    System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005)

This is some sort of access is denied.

  • Hi Walt,

    Thank you for answer.

How to debug it deeper ?

I can try to reinstall agents on SQL and MOSS servers. Should I re-create Protection Group ?

    Thanks

  • try running process monitor available from sysinternals and see where the access denied is being generated.  From first looking at it I would guess that it is on the production farm.

  • Hi Alternate!

Did you find a solution to the problem you described? We are facing the exact same error message so I would appreciate any ideas.

    Thanks in advance!

  • No. I tried to debug it with Process Monitor, but the backup was delayed.

At the moment I have a vacation and will try it in Feb :)
