Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server.... RRS feed

  • Question

For the last few days, everytime I click on a link that would allow me to listen to a radio station in Media Player 11 or watch a video outside of the webpage, I have been getting the following message..

"Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server.  The server name might not be correct, the server might not be available, or your proxy settings might not be correct."

This is happening on several webpages, yet I can still view media within the browser at websites like www.ocregister.com or www.foxnews.com

I have Vista 64 Ultimate.  I have gone to Options in Media Player, Network and then made sure that both HTTP and RTSP are set to Autodetect.  HTTP had been set to use the settings of the browser but that wasn't working either.

In Internet Options in the browser, I have gone to Connections and LAN Settings and doubled checked that my settings are set to Automatically detect settings.
