Users keeps getting requests to sign in RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We have seem to run into a strange occurrence regarding Skype for business.
Several users who are running on Windows 7 (still ) sign in normally onto their machines and recieve a sign in notifcation from Skype. Other users (also Windows 7) do not recieve this request (same goes for our Windows 10 users).

Resetting the credential manager and updating the clients does not resolve this issue (and yes we would like to upgrade the clients to Windows 10 but currently it is not possible) question is has any one experianced similair issue's ?

Tried to replicate the problem within a VM but all goes as it should,

    kind regards,

    Ben

  • Hi Ben,

Do you mean some users keep getting credential request to sign in SFB client?

According to your description, this issue only occurs in the physical PC, it seems this issue is not related to the SFB Server side and SFB account.

For this issue, I suggest you could try the following steps:
    1. Try to delete the SFB cache files as below, then check whether have this issue again.
    SFB client cache file: %Userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Lync\sip_XXXXX
    SFB Registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Lync\sip_XXXXX
    2. Try to perform a clean boot to disable all non-Microsoft services for testing, it will check whether there’s some Incompatible software installed in the PC.

    Best Regards,
    Evan Jiang

  • Hello Evan ,

    Thank you for your reply,

I have tried the suggested solution and had the user reboot afterwards , keeps asking for the user to login after a restart. Once credentials have been entered user has no other login prompts rest of the day, unless he reboots a clean boot also did not resolve the issue.

    Kind regards,

    Ben

  • Hi Ben,

You said “Once credentials have been entered user has no other login prompts rest of the day” and “keeps asking for the user to login after a restart”, could you describe this in details? Does the SFB client always ask user to type the credentials? Or when users enter the password, user also can’t sign in SFB client, and there’s no prompts?

In addition, please also check the SFB client those users use, if possible, please try to update the SFB client to the latest version.

    Best Regards,
    Evan Jiang

  • Hi Evan,

The situation best described is as follows:

    1. User signs into his workstation (running W7)
    2. Gets prompted to enter password when starting S4B.
    3. Signs in with out problem has checked the box for remember password/credentials
    4. Restarts his workstation
    5. Has to repeat steps 1-3 agian even though credentials are saved.

I have checked multiple users and workstations that have this problem they are running on the latest version of S4B Basic.

    Kind regards,

    Benjamin

  • Hi Ben,

Could you please check the credential's persistence in the Control Panel as below:

If the value is not Enterprise, please try to check your Windows settings in your environment.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi bdiepeveen,

According to your description, this issue is also present even  though you have done a full reinstallation.

Based on the information, it seems this issue may not be related to the SFB client, please check whether admin have set some auth policies in your environment.

In addition, you could also try to install SFB client in a PC which is install the pure system, then check this issue again.

    Best Regards,
    Evan Jiang

  • Hi bdiepeveen,

Based on the information above, it seems this is the Windows setting issue in your environment. Please compare the difference between the clean system and your system.
