Best Place for the Swap File? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

I will soon be installing SteadyState and am considering the setup options.  I currently have my swap file on another drive.  Does it make sense to leave it there or should it be moved back to the system drive?  It would seem to make sense to leave it on the second drive so all the changes to the swap file aren't intercepted to the cache file.

Has anyone experienced any difficulties with a RAID 1 system?

    Thank you

  • Hi,

    Your understanding is correct.

As I know, WDP requests the paging file set to a fixed size (Initial size = Maximum size) or directly to another non-system partition. Thus, I would suggest configuring the paging file to another partition.

As to RAID1, I haven't test it with SteadyState. If there is any feedback, feel free to post back.

    Best Regards,
