Notification area RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is what was the Taskbar now called the Notification Area?  If this is so (you may think this is being a bit picky) could not the Notification Area Properties be called that instead of Taskbar and Start Menu Properties (just for consistancies sake) and any thing refering to the taskbar being altered also?

  • Asha,

Actually, it is the old System Tray (in the bottom-right corner of the screen, containing icons for programs running in the background) which has been subsumed under the new Notification Area. The Taskbar remains unadultered. Sorry for any confusion!

  • Wow,

Thanks Alex for clarifying that "Notification area", to us cougars.  I remember it being called System Tray!!  But, regardless, how DO you make it hide through the Group Policy settings (Virtual Box, Windows 7)
