Reporting database refresh (Project Server 2010) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is the custom field backup/restore process the only way to trigger a rebuild of the reporting database? Is it correct that it deletes all of the data first? Does it affect only the reporting database?

  • Yes, that’s the only easy way. You may able to partially achieve this re-saving each lookup table, enterprise custom fields, views and resources. During RDb refresh followings jobs are executed

      • Fiscal Periods Sync
      • Lookup Table Sync
      • Custom Field Metadata Sync
      • Entity User View Refresh
      • Resources.

RDB refresh is the process of updating data from Published database to Reporting database.

To perform this job accurately, RDB refresh job has to empty existing data from rdb refresh which allows avoiding duplication or conflict of data during RDB refresh

    Hope this helps
