FIM 2010 support for ADAM on Win 2003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • According to the Management Agents in FIM 2010 reference there is no OOTB management agent to connect to an ADAM instance (ADLDS predecessor) on say a Server 2003 host, only an ADLDS MA.  Yet neither have I found anything that suggests the ADLDS MA won't "just work" with an ADAM instance.

I know of a site with a 6 year old ADAM instance which they are reluctant to upgrade to Win2008 at this point, and I would like to know whether or not (a) ADAM is "officially" supported by the FIM 2010 ADLDS MA, and (b) if anyone has used this successfully (i.e. in Production under full load with no issues)?

If I've missed the answer somewhere please forgive me :).

    Thanks in advance.

  • According to the FIM 2010 Technical Overview there is an AD LDS MA for the following versions of AD LDS:

"Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) in Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003, and Windows 2000."

I don't know of any way to install AD LDS onto Windows Server 2003 so I guess they mean ADAM aswell.
