Vista Service Pack 1 needed to upgrade to Windows 7

I need to install Vista Service Pack 1 to use the upgrade for Windows7 Ultimate according to the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. However, when I run windows update on my 32 bit 'dell XPS M1330, Windows update doesn't list Vista Service Pack 1 as an update that I need. Can I install the larger file from the download section of MS website? What will happen?

yes, you can do this. Download the Installer and run it.
