Missing SigmaTel STIR42xx USB2.0-IrDA Bridge drivers RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have SigmaTel STIR42xx USB2.0-IrDA Bridge but I don't find any drivers  for Windows vista . I found Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List which indicates that device's drivers are part of Windows Vista. Where can I get these drivers?

  • The device shows up automatically when you plug it in (in your hardware overview) but that's about it. I simply cannot get it to work even though Polar sells this to synchronise its high end heart rate monitors and says it works automatically on Vista, both 32-bit and 64-bit.

    A huge rip-off ...

  • It seems like there is a problem with the Sigmatel chipset. Some Polar heart rate monitors are not really IrDA compatible.

I've the S720i. I had no troubles connecting it with the IrDA port on my old Dell Inspiron 8500 notebook. But for my new Dell Precision M6300 an IrDA Port was not available. I bought a Hama USB IrDA adapter (with SigmaTel chipset). But this one does not work. Strange thing is that sometimes it works partly. Usually very slowly. Sometimes faster. Two times I came till the screen where the training sessions can be downloaded. But this didn't work. Damn...

  • Dit you find any solution to this. (alternative drivers, tweaking registry,... ?)

I'm currently having the same problem with an Hama IR USB device and a Polar S720i
