Shadow redundancy queues

    Question

  • Is it good practice to purge these if messages in there build up? Mail flow is fine and as these are copies can they be deleted manually?

What can cause them to build up for no apparent reason?

  • I wouldn't purge those queues without determining (and eliminating) the root cause. How long are the messages configured to be kept?

Get-TransportConfig | fl ShadowMessageAutoDiscardInterval, SafetyNetHoldTime, MessageExpirationTimeout

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

  • Settings are the defaults so 2 days for all. The queues cleared down over the weekend so no need to clear them manually. Was just concerned as to why they might have built up?
