Import timesheet data to Actual Work field RRS feed

  • Question

  • I get an export of timesheet data from an ERP system into .xls.

    The columns are:  Name|WBS Code|Date|Hours

I am trying to do a mapped import to Project.  I'm planning to map as follows:

    Name to Resource Name

    WBS Code to WBS

    Hours to Actual Work

But what do I map the Date field to???  I used Date1, and it did the import, but scattered the data all over.

  • Hi William,

I have never tried to do this my self. I would say you map the date to "TimeByDay".

JSR works together with a company called TPG, they design interfaces between ERP and PPM on a daily basis. Maybe you could contact them to get some insight? To find more about them you can read about a training I had with them on my blog.

    Kind regards,

    Erik

  • Erik,

Thanks, But I don't show "TimeByDay" in the pull down menu when I go to set the mapping.  I'm using Project 2010.  Maybe that's a new thing in 2013?

    William

    How do I contact JSR?

  • The TimeByDay has always been part of the database, but I don't know how it could be accessed. JSR won't be able to help much, I think a partner like TPG The Project Group or Sensei could be of more use. They create 3rd party tools and know how to use the data structure to populate ERP systems.

Here are two quick links to get a hold of them:

    https://www.theprojectgroup.com/en/home.html

    http://www.senseiprojectsolutions.com/

And of course you are still welcome to contact JSR at:

www.jsr.nl (The site is only available in Dutch, sorry guys)

    Kind regards,

    Erik
