Unable to upgrade to Windows 10 - Windows updater error 0x80070057 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I have tried a number of times now to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It always fails and puts out an error WindowsUpdate_C0000005.

I did a search on this error which recommended using the Windows Updater Repair which I have done. However at the end of this it states it is unable to fix Windows Updater Error 0x80070057.

Another search done led me to which suggests using RegEdit to fix the problem however the keys that are referenced in this don't exist for me.

    Any thoughts here?

  • I have this error and so far cannot solve.

The update page in settings constantly aks for restarts, which I have done numerous times. The upgrade assistant Win 10 runs but return this error. Have run SubinACL tool  with no change and have run WU as administrator but this returns unable to complete. Have turned of Anti virus no change.

    Any advice please.
