  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

Re-Installed WinXP SP1 on an older machine - reformatted hard drive

All went well except windows keeps asking for vgapnp.sys

I don't understand, never had this before

    Any ideas -

Where can I get this file???

    Thanks Bill

Apologies for posting in the wrong place but I think 'vgapnp.sys' is a Vista system file no XP

I thought finding a copy of 'vgapnp.sys' would help

I have fixed the problem now.

There was a corruption in the initial install

    Booted to command prompt

Deleted some critical system files including vga.sys

    Booted to CD

Ran 'repair' & all working fine now

  • Hi Bill,

Is your system Windows Vista or Windows XP?

This forum mainly focus on Windows Vista system cases. It is not the best resource for problems regarding other products. If it is Windows XP, please post a thread in our Windows XP forum to discuss.

Meanwhile, you may try something to try to resolve this issue. It seems that your video driver is not installed. I suggest that you reinstall the video driver.

    Hope it helps.
