Documents Folder Redirection - Share Folder Name Showing

    Question

  • Hi,

Our organisation has Documents basic folder redirection in place to '\\files\%username%\banana' (example). With this folder redirection in place, viewing the user experience from a Windows 10 v1607 Enterprise edition of Windows, we see the Documents folder name under 'This PC', and 'Quick access' as 'banana', not, 'Documents'. However, when viewing the libraries, it is correctly see to 'Documents'.

I should add that the target folder location is set to 'Redirect to the following location' (\\files\%username%\banana).

The outcome we're looking for is that whatever the underlying folder name, it is presented as 'Documents' in 'Quick access' and 'This PC'.

Is what we're experiencing 'by design'? Which believe this has only started happening since an underlying storage upgrade to SMB3.

Be good to get your view.

    Thanks.
