Computer Crash got fixed RRS feed

  • Question

  • I don't even know which forum I should choose, probably too old for any support or suggestions.

Since my computer crashes, I can no longer access my Word Doc files that are on my external hard drive.  I think I lost my Windows XP Pro program, had all the bells and whistles I needed for doing my ancestry stories with photos etc.  Am very old and not very knowledgible on computers, but waas able to research on the Web and write my ancestor's stories for my descendants.  Now I am lost!  My home has some wiring problems and just found that I needed a surge protector with battery backup on my computer after the third crash.  Maybe Windows 98 was too old for support.

Is there anything I can do?  On limited social security income, cannot afford much.

    Thank you.

  • Hi B Shields

Don't worry.. well if you still have your hard disk with you.. reinstall a fresh Operating systems with windows XP or Windows 7.. once this machine is setup nicely.. kindly go download a active boot disc.. connect your old hard disk via slave mode.. and boot the active boot disc via dos mode and retrieve your data from the old hard disk.. will be glad to assist you further..
