Is Central Administration Site Needed for a Heirarchy that has only 1 Primary Site and 3 Secondary Site RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Gurus,

I'm in a Migration Project from SCCM 2007 to 2012, Current Setting is 1 Primary Site and 3 Secondary sites under that primary one.

I was considering to build a Single Primary site and 3 Secondary Sites under that primary of SCCM 2012, but i was confused weather i need a CAS in such case or not? As i have only 1 Primary Site not Multiple as written in the technet.

"When you configure a hierarchy that has more than one primary site, you must install a central administration site, and it must be the first site that you install."

Thanks For Reading, Advice is appreciated :)

    Cheers,

  • You do not need a CAS unless you are planning to implement multiple primary sites (if your number of clients exceeds that which a single primary could support or you wish to have a segregated environment for multiple zones but still retain an overall picture.)
