DC and Email Server help RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I have two issues at work that I need help with and would appreciate some friendly advice and direction.

First issue, I have two domain controllers setup. One with windows server 2008 as the designated primary DC, while the other, a demoted DC is running on a upgraded version of windows server 2003 from 2000. However, whenever I boot up the primary domain controller, the network becomes unresponsive. If I boot up the secondary domain controller prior to the primary domain controller, the network becomes responsive to both domain controllers. I'd like to have both domain controllers running independent from each other while managing the same resources. How can I help resolve this issue?

Second issue, I have an end user who cannot get a response from the email server however pinging the server from her machine shows a valid response but nothing is interacting. Web, Software, and everything else works fine except email. She is using Lotus notes for her emails.

    Thank you for your time.
