  • Question

  • Windows 8.1 64-bit with all patches

    Enterprise with 650 computers

    IE11 64-bit

2 to 5 computers a day are locking up with IE going into a white screen for all URL's and drop downs grayed out. Have tried many things, too endless to list. Only fix we've found is to delete the user profile and recreate.

Metro IE will work but not desktop IE.

Care to try to refine that symptom description?  E.g. is something running?  Use ProcMon to get more details.

Then you could use  IEdiagcmd.exe  to compare the changes to get more clues that way.  Sounds like something your users are installing is incompatible.  Then you could enforce using  -extoff  (No Add-ons mode) to find out what it is and what they really need.  Obviously not really needed if MUF IE is an acceptable workaround.   ; )
