Emoticons going out as plain text all of a sudden RRS feed

  • Question

  • HI All,

    Thanks in advance, we have our Skype for business with Office365 and there is no on-prem Lync servers. Till yesterday emoticons were working for all users. But, today all of a sudden it is going out as plain text for some strange reason for all users. Any idea what could be the reason?

    I have raised a MS case for safer side as well.

    Many Thanks,

    Niru

  • Hi,

    Got the issue fixed, it was due to some MS patch deployed, but upon checking the version it was 1803, updated one of our clients to 1808 and bingo, everything started to work fine. So, ultimately this was the issue.

  • Hi Niranjan,

    Thanks for your posting. About this issue, I suggest you check the version of Skype for Business, if you are not using the latest version of SFB client, please try to update the latest version, then check this issue again. The latest version of MSI is 16.0.4822.1000, C2R is 16.0.11328.20146, you could refer to the following blog: Skype for Business 2016 Client Update List: March 2019

    In addition, please open PowerShell then connect to Skype for Business service to run the command: Get-CsClientPolicy, check the values of PolicyEntry, if you have set it, please run the following command to make the value of DisableRicherEditCanSetReadOnly is true:
    $a = New-CsClientPolicyEntry -Name “DisableRicherEditCanSetReadOnly” -Value "true"
    Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity “Policy Name” -PolicyEntry @{Add=$a}

    Best Regards,
    Evan Jiang

  • Also, tried the cmdlet and got an error message that New-CsclientpolicyEntry is not recognized as the name of the cmdlet.
