GPO Settings Query

    Question

  • We have two domain controllers in our environment. The below GPO settings are having an issue.

Accounts:Administrator Account Status is enabled in the GPO but local security policy settings in the server shows "Not Applicable" sometimes and the value is "enabled" sometimes.

I have the same issue for the below 2 policies.

Accounts: Guest account status ( Disabled in the GPO but the local security policy shows "Not applicable" sometimes and the value is "disabled" sometimes)

Network Access: Allow anonymous SID/Name translation ( Disabled in the GPO but the local security policy shows "Not applicable" sometimes and the value is "disabled" sometimes)

The value of these policies keep on changing automatically. Sometimes it shows correct value as of the value stated in the GPO but sometimes it shows "Not applicable"

What is the cause of this issue?

  • Hi,
Please have a try the Group Policy Results from GPMC or gpresult.exe to determine if the GPOs have been delivered successfully when local security policy settings in the server shows "Not Applicable". And you could also see if any logs in the event viewer are logged when the value is not showed.
And if the GPO is not stable on applying, please check if the network connection is working well or not. And you could have a try to run gpupdate /force command and see if it works.
In addition, have you checked the replication status between domain controllers?
    Best regards,
    Wendy
