Scom is howing WSUS Synchronization Failed. RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi, I keep getting this error in scom regrading WSUS.

I cant see to find out what is causing the WSUS to report error to SCOM.

    Causes

The WSUS server may not be able to connect to Windows Update..

    In WSYNCMGR.log

Sync failed: The operation has timed out. Source: Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.DatabaseAccess.ApiRemotingCompressionProxy.GetWebResponse

Sync failed. Will retry in 60 minutes

  • Hi,

From the perspective of WSUS, I think this may be caused by insufficient private memory, so please consider first adjusting the private memory of WSUSPool in IIS:

    1. On your WSUS Server, launch the IIS Manager.
    2. Click 'Application Pools' is in the Connections list.
    3. Right click 'WsusPool' and select 'Advanced Settings…'
      - 'General' - 'Queue Length' : 25,000.
      - 'Rapid-Fail Protection' - 'Failure Interval (minutes)' : 30
      - 'Rapid-Fail Protection' - 'Maximum Failures' : 60
      - 'Recucling' - 'Private Memory limit' : x4 times, or set to 0 (unlimited).
    4. Click 'ok' to save and restart the server.

If the above steps do not solve the current problem, please refer to this article for WSUS and SUP maintenance recommendations: "The complete guide to Microsoft WSUS and Configuration Manager SUP maintenance".

Hope the above can help you.

    Regards,
    Yic

It looks like the sync error from scom is gone.

    but now getting new error.

The Asset Intelligence Catalog Synchronization on server SCCM.Domain.local is not working.

    Summary

This monitor checks the status of Asset Intelligence Point synchronization. It generates an alert if the Asset Intelligence data cannot be successfully synchronized.

    Causes

The synchronization fails due to one of the following:

    A Network error

    The catalog service is unavailable

    Resolutions

Provide the error code from log to the Configuration Manager administrator for troubleshooting.

    Additional Information

The Asset Intelligence catalog will not be updated. This could impact the category and license matching for Asset Intelligence reports.

  • Hi LalaJee,

    Thanks for your feedback.
It seems that you are experiencing other problems outside of WSUS. If the issue with WSUS has been resolved, you are welcome to share your workaround or mark out the useful answers in this thread.

Regarding the questions in SCCM, I am sorry that I am not an expert in this area, but I will try to study this, which may take some time. You can also consider the Configuration Manager forum to ask professionals.
