APPV 4.6 Issue with EPIC 2014 Opening PDF RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have sequenced EPIC 2014 in our environment using APP V 4.6 and it works quite well except for the fact when it goes to open a PDF via a linked button in EPIC. Proc mon is showing that it can not find the path because it is appending an extra (x86) onto the path that it is trying to find adobe. We have done a local install of the application and it works fine, so I am pretty sure this has something to do with what app-v is trying to do. See attached screen shot of proc mon log. See below:

    PATH NOT FOUND

    Q:\A_I6AX6U.BPR\VFS\SFT_PROGRAM_FILES_X64\ (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 2015\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe "C:\ProgramData\Epic\81\TempData\23E5F4D162BD43FEB68925D01DD15A71\TMP43058396-21267346-53315.PDF"

  • I suppose acrobat.exe is not in your appv package? Where does EPIC get installed to? Do you have access rights to create that tempfile in programdata? Does that file excist? Or did you include this folder in your appv package? If so did you disable the "Enforce security descriptors" checkbox?

  • Yes we have rights to create that temp file in programdata. Yes that file exists. And yes "enforce security descriptors" is disabled.

  • Ok great, but what about acrobat.exe.... Is acrobat installed locally on your box, or is it sequenced next to EPIC?

  • It is locally installed. I have also tried sequencing adobe into the package, that does not work either.

  • Is programfiles included in your package? Or programfiles\adobe? Are these folders marked as "overwrite"? If so, they will be isolated from your local system, and therefor will not be able to find acrobat.exe. Set those folders to "merge with local system".

  • Yes program files is included in the package. Those folders are not marked as "overwrite".

  • Sorry, I missed your comment about "SFT_PROGRAM_FILES_X64/ (x86)". Check your OSD, what's the working directory?
