ProClarity - 64 Bit install failure RRS feed

  • Hello,

    We've attempted to install ProClarity 6.3, SP3 on two different 64 bit machines (a virtual server and a pc) and are having no luck.  We get the InstallShield Wizard dialog box message "The Wizard was interupted before ProClarity could be installed...".  We have found an tried the fix at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2003976 as well as other fixes and have not been successful.

    Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

    You don't need to install any KB article. I also, had the same issue, I did following. Hope this will work for you also.

    Proclarity Installation on 64 Bit (windows Server 2008):

    Below are the steps to be performed on inetmgr:

     

    * Advances setting ----> Enable 32 bit Application (Set it to True . It is false by default in 64 bit OS)

    Try this out .

    * Change the Application Pool From Default Application Pool to Classic .Net AppPool for the Default Web Site and Ensure It changes for the PAS and PASUpload Virtual Directories

    * Classic .Net AppPool --> Advanced Settings --> Process Model --> Change Identity To Administrator (e.g., Domain\UserName and Pwd: ********)

  • Hi Jay,

    Just to confirm - you're having this error when installing the RTM bits of Desktop Pro, right? What OS is this on?   

    I suggest installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package update:

    x64 - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=EB4EBE2D-33C0-4A47-9DD4-B9A6D7BD44DA&displaylang=en 

    If that doesn't work, I would try this Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update update:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=766A6AF7-EC73-40FF-B072-9112BAB119C2&displaylang=en

    Please let me know the outcome.

    No luck I'm afraid.

    Attempting install on Windows 7 x64  and get the same behaviour with the setup bombing out despite the installation of the C++ links above.

     

    The installer gets to the Configuring Windows Installer stage and then bombs out with the error - The Wizard was interrupted.....

     

    I have already installed the 64Bit SQL 2005 ADOMD drivers.  Despite this if I run the main setup I get the "Pivot Table Services " not installed.

    If I run the setup in the path Desktop Install\Install\setup then the installer runs but bombs out.

    I have the same experience that David mentions above - no luck - ProClarity install fails with the same (Install Wizard was interrupted....) message.

  • David, Jay,

    I'm sorry to read you are still experiencing this issue.  It is best if you open an official support case at this time.

    The only other option I can suggest at this time is to look at possible NTFS restrictions on the registry and/or the file system.

  • Hi David,

    When you see the 'wizard was interrupted' message, do you see it immediately after launching setup.exe, or do you get to a certain point in the installation process before it stops?  Do you have to click 'next' to start the install before the 'wizard was interrupted' error appears?

  • I fixed this issue finally on a Windows 7 64bit client using the following:

    Navigate to C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files and rename the folder 'Install Shield' to something else, such as 'Install Shield Old'.

    When you run the proclarity installer again, it will create a new Install Shield folder with the correct versions of the files it needs to complete the install. I already had the C++ redist. files mentioned in other fixes, and this was the change I needed.

    I assume the issue is that newer versions of Install Shield on other programs update some files that are incompatible with older installers. Took me a long time to figure this out, but hopefully it works for anyone reading this.

  • Hi I was caught in a same kind of issue. We had a SQL Server 2000 32-bit which is our ProClarity 6.2 .

    The Client on the Server is SQL Server 2005 RTM 32-bit, which is downloaded on client Machine along with ProClarity Pro for connecting to ProClarity 6.2.

    Issue:

    Some users recently got new systems with windows 2007 64-bit and had issues connecting to ProClarity Pro. As some of these users are our Power users they need ProClarity Professional to Create new reports.

    The issue starts downloading the download manager and fails to install download manager.  Skipping the step to download manager we installed ProClarity Professional from the "Check for downloads" option and the Required Components.

    Strange thing is he was able to create new reports. But, unable to open existing reports created by the same user.

    @ JimF-A and J-G-Killmer @ I am happy to hear that you solved your issue. I was looking every where for this issue.

    MY question would be :

    1)  @ JimF-A   Is the issue you faced was the same some of our users are facing.

    2)  @ JimF-A  and J-G-Killmer Do you have any unwanted issues happened renaming 'Install Shield' folder?

    Please let me know my options and updates i have to do to make this work.
