Exchange 2010 and UAG 2010 performing redirection task RRS feed

  • Question

  • Currently we us ISA Server 2006 to publish exchange.  We have a publishing rule that publishes to a web farm of three CAS servers.  We have basic authentication selected for the web publishing rule and the authentication method within EMC on all CAS servers is basic.  Internally we have OWA redirection setup and working fine.

We would like to migrate to UAG 2010 for the publishing of the Exchange Web Site.  We are going to publish the exchange web sites directly as opposed to using the UAG portal.

I see that UAG can do http to https redirection and have found several blogs on setting this up.

Can UAG 2010 perform redirection from https://outlook.myorg.com to https://outlook.myorg.com/owa?

I cannot find blogs or documentation on doing this.  I am thinking UAG only supports http to https redirection and not url rewriting.

    Thanks,

    Jon

  • Hi Jon,

All UAG publishing is done via the portal, but you can configure the portal to not be displayed and only a single application be available.  You can set this using the "initial application" dropdown on the bottom left side of the trunk GUI.  If you configure UAG this way when publishing Exchange it will automaticly redirect the user from https://outlook.myorg.com to https://outlook.myorg.com/owa.

UAG supports HTTP to HTTPS redirection, HTTPS to HTTPS bridging, url redirection, url re-writing, and many other types of HTTP/HTTPS content modification/manipulation.

You can take a look at the following for more information:

    Hope this helps.

From memory, if you publish Exchange 2010 using a dedicated trunk, it will provide redirection to /OWA automatically...however if you use a shared trunk with a portal it requires the user to include the /OWA path...

Edit: Sorry Dan, didn't mean to echo you, missed that bit of your reply ;)
