Errors with Vista, Having trouble updating, getting error code: 80080005

Question

I went to the updates and it says only update in the update history was
windows update agent 7.4.7600.226
and then when i go to check for updates it says windows could not search for new updates
An error occured while checking for new updates for your computer.
errors found : code 80080005
PLEASE HELP!!

Hello,
reset windows update components and check again.
If this does not help, proceed like that:
- run chkdsk /r /f and sfc /scannow
- Download and install System Readiness tool for your Windows
- Disable all security softwares
Once done, try updating your OS.
If the problem persists, I recommend performing a repair install of your OS.

I would suggest you to follow the methods provided below and check if it helps.
Method 1:
First check windows update history to find the error code for the failed updates. Right click on the failed update and click on view.
Check for the updates that failed in Update history.a. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Update, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Update.
b. In the left pane, click View update history.
c. To view more information about an update, double-click it.Method 2:
