Upgrade TS to 1803 with which version of ADK/MDT? RRS feed

  • Question

  • My current setup is...

Deploying 1703 (with some Win7E). I have MDT 6.3.8443 and ADK 10.1.15063.0 and I'm looking to move to
Win10 1803. My hope is to make a Task Sequence that I can run my VM's through to upgrade them as is from
1703 to 1803. Which versions of MDT and ADK do I need for a while in order for this to work...and manage to keep
my Win7E Deployments working as well? Also, I'm not entirely sure how to verify the exact version of ADK I have installed.

  • I'm deploying Win10 1803 and have MDT 6.3.8443 installed (I know there is a more recent version of MDT but I haven't upgraded yet). I'm running ADK 10.1.17134.1 which is the most recent version of ADK (it was released for Windows 10 1803 support).

I have Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 task sequences and they all run fine, along with my (under development) Windows 10 1803 task sequence.

You can find what version of the ADK you're running by looking in Programs and Features on your MDT server. The AKD will be listed (Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit) and check the Version there.

I haven't done any in-place upgrades from 1703 to 1803 myself, but I suspect you could use the In Place Upgrade task sequence to do it? Would be easy enough to set one up and test..

  • Thanks. They don't make the versions very clear when they name them either 8443 or 8450 and also name them 10.1.5063.0 and 10.1.17134.1, to know which goes with which.

I believe the latest ADK is 8450 so I'll jump to that one. I had tested two VM's I ran through a TS which upgraded them from 1607 to 1703. Soooo, I guess I'll try one out from 1703 to 1803. Backup has started!
