Site owner getting Access Denied error while editing a site column in MOSS 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an intranet sharepoint site, when site owner tries to edit (ex. changing description) a site column from Site Column gallery he gets ACCESS DENIED error. However when he looks again, the changes are updated.

I am unable to understand this starange behaviour.

Site owner has Full Control access and has created many of the site columns as well. But then why is he getting access denied error and how come update is still happening ? This is mainly happening for Lookup type site column and for other it's just showing "Operation in Progress" for an endlesss period, but when we re-check the update still happens

Can anyone please help me in troubleshooting this error ?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi Harshit,

Does Pratik’s suggestion help? You need to check whether there are enough storage space on SQL server.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Pratik,

Thanks for your post and Apologies for replying late.

The issue is still not resolved, the site storage quota has no limits and SQL server also has enough epace.

Even user with full control access on the site are able to edit the site column, but they get an access denied page initially, but when they look back they find that the changes made are actually saved. Site collection admin can perform this task flawlessly.

Can the Site owners edit site columns from site column galery OR is it any issue MOSS 2007 which is causing the error ?

Also this behaviour is prevalant for all the sites (of all sitecollections) in this environment.

Please let me know if there is anyother way to rectify it.
