Can we use SharePoint/FAST Query Web Service on HTTPS ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm using SharePoint/FAST Query Web Service from this document: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee872313.aspx

However, this document explain only Web Service on HTTP default port 80.  (http://Server_Name/[sites/][Site_Name/]_vti_bin/search.asmx)

My question is,  can we use Query Web Service on HTTPS and how?   I have tried  https://Server_Name/[sites/][Site_Name/]_vti_bin/search.asmx but it does not success

    Thank you in advance.

  • Hello JiratS,

This should be possible if you set up SharePoint 2010 to allow connections on https. Have you configured SharePoint for https traffic, what error are you receiving, and does normal access to your SharePoint installation work with https?

  • Thank you Mikael,  setting IIS and SharePoint to use HTTPS will enable Query Web Service on HTTPS as well.

  • Hi,

If you navigate to the link using for example Internet Explorer, do you get the same error?

Actually I have moved the xap file from my local devleopment server to pre-prod. In my local server it was working fine.

But , in pre-prod it thrown the error like below.

  • Hi,

Could it be a Silverlight issue? Still.. this is not a FAST issue so I suggest you ask in either the general SharePoint forum or in a Silverlight forum.
